Northern Cape

Orange River Wine Tasting in Kakamas

Western Cape

We've visited four wineries in the Western Cape; Nuy Winery, Four Cousins, Excelsior Wine Estate, and Van Loveren Family Wines. A day of wide-open spaces, stunning outlooks and world-class wine!

Nuy Winery

Nuy Winery was our first stop, so we started with a nice breakfast (I know some sommeliers recommend not eating for at least an hour prior to a tasting in order to properly clear your palate, but we wanted to 'gear up' for a full day of tasting!)

Then the wine tasting began...

Four Cousins

What do you know, four cousins

@ Four Cousins! We enjoyed a selection

of food, wine, and beer pairings.

We bought a 3 litre bottle of wine, which they will refill and reseal if you bring it back. Great day with family.

Excelsior Wine Estate

Veldin and I created our own blend, which they bottled and labelled for us. Our blend is called ‘Minnie Escape’.

They have a beautiful tasting room with a deck spanning over the water’s edge.

Making sure we like our blend.

Bottled and labelled our blend. (Scroll through)

Van Loveren Family Vineyards

Van Loveren Family Vineyards has been in the Retief family since 1937 and is South Africa's biggest family owned winery. They have a stunning tasting room and outdoor area. We enjoyed their food & wine pairings. A must to visit if you're around. Even the turkey joined us in the shade under the beautiful trees.
